OUR PHYSIO
Penelope Simmonds

Penelope graduated from the University of Sydney in 2007. Since graduation she has worked in public hospitals, rehabilitation centers and community settings both in Australia and the United Kingdom. Early in her career she developed a strong interest in rehabilitation and completed a graduate certificate in clinical rehabilitation through Flinders University. From here her interest in clients with altered movement patterns and harnessing neural plasticity through exercise was sparked. Over the past 8 years she honed her exercise prescription skills with people who have neurological conditions including peripheral neuropathies, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neuron Disease and stroke survivors.

This also saw her expand into treating the common problems such as shoulder pain, back pain and loss of strength that people with neurological conditions are prone to.

Her passion is in helping her clients to find the right exercises and path to rehabilitate injuries and work towards getting back to the activities they enjoy.

Penelope has a holistic approach and an interest in the importance of beautiful breathing whilst exercising to assist movement and pain. To further develop these skills she completed Butekyo Breathing training (2020) and Physio yoga training for health professionals in 2019.

Penelope’s passion outside of physiotherapy is dancing. On the weekend you will find her picnicking and couple dancing in the park with friends.

Penelope is available for consultations at both our Willoughby and Moore Park Studios.
