PHYSIOCISE TRAVELS

Our #PhysiociseTravels series continues to grow, and it’s been a great edition for the new year.

We’ve seen lunges in Finland, balance practice on mountain tops, stretches during long flights, core work in Tokyo Palace gardens and strength work squeezed in before breakfast. It’snever about perfection — it’s about consistency.  Travel places different demands on the body. Long flights tighten hip flexors. Hotel pillows challenge necks. Uneven streets test ankle control.

A few minutes of simple Physiocise strength keeps your body moving well and allows for some epic travel adventures.

Come to Physiocise, and you can keep travelling. And don’t forget to snap a photo for us; we genuinely enjoy seeing them.

Lesley Goulburn  (Floppy and Strong Bones class)
Recently had a bucket list trip to the Atacama Desert in Chile and Antarctica. The packing list would have been hard from hot to cold, but what an amazing adventure! She said on returning home ‘I would not be able to do any of this without Physiocise. Class keeps me strong and moving so I can do what I love.’

Katy Clark  (Strong Bones class) doing her Physiocise even in the freezing weather in Finland. Lunges are a great way to keep warm while enjoying the great outdoors in sub zero temperatures!

Lauren Arnold (Advanced Floppy class) taking the time for a splat stretch at the outdoor Museum Hakone and some lying down core exercises on the lawn of the imperial palace in Tokyo. “I really did do my lying leg in /leg out, I'm not just lying there enjoying the Winter sunshine I promise” in Japan.

Kay Fitton (our Physiotherapist) and Jane Hobson (our Client Care & Support team) did the Three Capes walk in Tasmania in December. Both their husbands, Marc and Ian, also went. Marc and Ian both attend the Advanced Floppy class with Sarah Kelliher and decide a quick table stretch is needed along the way. They also ran into another client – Sarah Burnett – who does Dimity’s Advanced Floppy class. A wonderful Physiocise contingent on the hike with beautiful views along the way. There was some stunning scenery, so they would definitely recommend it if you have not done it.

Mike Partington (Athlete Burn class and husband to our CEO Melissa) taking a table stretch in Torres del Paine, Patagonia. With Melissa's expert tips, she’s always keeping her travel companions strong and stretched!

Melissa Partington (CEO and Physiotherapist) on a boat in the Galapagos islands. She was very relieved to learn they had Wi-Fi on board, so Mel and a friend took the time to join one of our online live streamed classes from back in Sydney. The time zones worked perfectly! Here you can see them doing some wide squats. And what better time for a psoas stretch than when mid long haul flight!

Anna-Louise Bouvier (our founder) on a recent hiking trip to Mt Kosciusko. “5 our of the 6 of the group go to Physiocise. Among the group, there was a new hip, a new mitral valve, a plated and screwed ankle, two lots of post-pneumonia lungs, and that’s all before the stiff necks, dodgy backs and frozen shoulders. Can’t tell you how grateful everyone is to our physios for keeping them all going.”

Anne and Lilah Kenneally (Mother and Daughter on our client care team) went on a bucket-list family holiday to Canada in December, seeing the spectacular Northern Lights. Here is Lilah taking time for a psoas stretch after they’d been snowshoeing in Yellowknife, Canada. And how about the northern lights – what amazing colours.

Barb Palmer (Advanced Floppy & Strong Bones classes) on a recent trip to Singapore. Here she is taking time for some balance work in the gardens of the Raffles Hotel, and a table stretch in the Cloud Forest at the Botanic Gardens — proof that Physiocise travels well.

Yinna Too (our graphic designer) has recently moved to Tasmania and is enjoying getting to explore new places with her gorgeous Labrador – Lilly. Here they are on Carlton Beach, Tasmania, doing some lunges after being inspired by the Garden B.A.S.S. exercises. Yinna loves seeing all our fabulous clients sending in their #physiocisetravels photos, and is the talent behind making all our Physiocise branding so pretty!

We love seeing our clients’ adventures, whilst helping them stay active.

The Travelling Towel Series

At Christmas, each of our team received a Physiocise towel embroidered with their initials from our wonderful CEO, Melissa Partington.

Over the summer, those towels travelled far and wide.

They’ve appeared on hiking trails, beaches, balconies and airport lounges. It started as a fun gift — that turned into a reminder that strength doesn’t depend on perfect conditions.

A towel can double as lumbar support on a long-haul flight. Rolled out, it becomes an exercise mat. Or it simply marks out a space to lie down and relax – the perfect place to practice your breathing!

Watch our socials for more of the towel adventures.

Christmas Client Fun

At the end of last term, we had some lovely clients celebrating the festive season and making us all smile.

One of Sam Peacock’s classes - Monday 8.15am Floppy Plus - gave their annual Christmas concert. It was choreographed to “Rockin’ around the Christmas tree” using Physiocise exercises and props! It had everyone giggling and brought a lot of cheer.

While another class – Thursday's 9.30am Advanced Flippy Class - went for their annual Christmas lunch. This class have been celebrating and supporting each other in class for over 20 years. Some of these clients have been attending Physiocise since it started in 1995.

We are grateful for our wonderful community that supports each other and celebrates the milestones.

Team Staff Meeting

As Term 1 began, our entire team met for planning and professional development.

We have been busy behind the scenes working on ways to ensure we always deliver our clients the best possible service.

Our staff spend most of their time helping clients face-to-face, so getting the whole team together is always a wonderful celebration, sure to be full of laughs and chat. We currently have 16 physiotherapists and 8 in our customer care team across our two locations.

GRANDMOTHER ALERT

January saw two of our staff members became grandmothers. Kay Fitton (our physiotherapist) welcomed a granddaughter, Wren. And Karen Toker (our finance director) welcomed a grandson, Clark.

Both are, of course, smitten and enjoying their new additions. Welcome to the Physiocise family.

WRITE A GOOGLE REVIEW

Many new clients tell us they found us through our wonderful community. And sometimes the thing that gets them here are reading our Google Reviews.

When someone is struggling with knee pain on stairs, back pain after gardening, or feeling less steady than they used to, they are often unsure where to begin. Reading a genuine experience gives them reassurance.

If classes have helped you — whether it’s getting off the floor more easily, walking hills with confidence, or feeling stronger overall — we would truly appreciate a short review. It helps others understand what Physiocise can do for them.

NEW PREREQUISITE WORKSHOPS

We are introducing Prerequisite Workshops for new clients before starting classes.

Why?

Because foundations matter. But not everyone joins us at the start of the term. Some come with no pains or niggles but are keen to get going, or others have a timetable that might not permit foundation classes for a term. So these workshops allow new clients to get into classes, whilst still learning the basics. After all, we want our clients to get the most out of what we do.

The 3 new Prerequisites are Core, Technique and Strong Bones. These workshops cover:

  • The secrets to core activation

  • Technique for key movements (squats, lunges, glute strength)

  • How to lift weights safely, while taking care of other niggles you might have

When clients enter class with this understanding, progress is faster and confidence higher. If you have a friend in mind who you think would enjoy class, send them our website for more information.

If you have a preferred class time, we recommend booking early.
