KATE’S RESEARCH PUBLISHED (AGAIN)

As many of you know, our wonderful Physio, Kate Roberts, completed her PhD in November 2025. This is one of a series of papers looking at chronic low back pain.

This paper has a fascinating infographic showing the three main modifiable lifestyle factors that contribute to low back pain over the past 30 years worldwide.

1.        Occupation / ergonomics

2.        Smoking

3.        High BMI (body mass index)

As shown in this infographic, there has been an increase in the contribution of obesity as a risk factor for Low back pain.  Lots more to learn about how your metabolism can influence inflammation and pain! Congratulations, Kate, who has now published 6 papers as part of her PhD research.

For those who would like to read more of the article, the full paper is available here.

PHYSIOCISE TRAVELS

Once again, our clients and our team travel to some amazing places! Here is our #physiocisetravels series for Term 2 from all over the world. Don’t forget to send us any pics from your next trip! #physiocisetravels

Here are some fabulous photos from the last few months.
Click on the images to view them in full size. 👇🏼

Melissa Partington (our MD and Physio)
On a beach in WA, winding up to unwind in a seated version of a pretzel stretch. As you can tell, it’s aptly named.

Deb Gray (Floppy and Silver Strong class)
Practising her balance on the sidewalk in Piran, Slovenia. Beautiful views to take in whilst doing her B.A.S.S.

Anna-Louise Bouvier (our Founder)
Sightseeing in London at Hampton Court Palace, taking time out for a psoas and table stretch. What a stunning backdrop.

Carol Fitzpatrick (Strong Bones class)
Travelling in The Dolomites, Italy.
“These photos show only a glimpse of how spectacular the Dolomites are! They are all that I imagined them to be”. Showing us some stunning lakes as she does her balance.

Maria King (our Physio)
Road tripping from Ningaloo Reef, WA, to the Pilbara. As the drives were long, understandably, they all needed some stretches and exercises to break up the drive. And what amazing photos they made too! Thanks, Maria and her physio university friends, for showing some perfect planks, down dogs and balance poses!

Marilyn Rosenbaum (Flippy class)
Doing the B.A.S.S. at Mount Tambourine, QLD.

Gilly Dodgson (Strong Bones and Advanced Flippy classes)
On a road trip along the coast in North West Spain. Here, you can see her helping her travel team with some hip corrections while doing their table stretch... She has been well-trained with years of classes.

Anna-Louise Bouvier (our Founder)
Taking some stretches during a scenic hike with her husband, Rick, in Monte Grappa, Veneto, in Northern Italy. What a view!

Sally Nield (our Physio)
Had a friendly helping hand from a local goat whilst doing a Psoas Stretch. Silverton, NSW.

Susie Reed (our Physio)
On the beach in beautiful Port Douglas, QLD at sunrise.

We love seeing our clients’ adventures, whilst helping them stay active.

MARIA KEEPING ACTIVE

One of Maria’s favourite times of every day is taking her beautiful dog Genie for a walk in Centennial Park. Summer is beautiful in the park, but so is winter. She usually adds a few lunges to her routine in winter to strengthen her legs and keep warm. Walking the dog can be a great time to add in some strength training or even stomping... the success to strong bones!

FIRE DRILL CLASS

A few weeks ago, at Willoughby, a fire drill was conducted during a mid-class. This didn’t stop our quick-thinking physios making the most of the time waiting in the car park! They got both their classes continuing with strength exercises – wall squats and push-ups - until things were safe to return to the studio. Well done, Melissa and Carolyn, for adapting on the go and keeping everyone safe and strong!
