LOVING ONLINE CLASS
We feel so fortunate that despite the lockdowns during the past 18 months we can stay connected to our clients regardless of their location. Some are safe at home in Sydney, but many are joining remote classes from rural NSW, Queensland, Darwin, Melbourne, Adelaide (we nearly have all states covered) and a few even across in New Zealand, France and Canada.
This would not have been possible without the huge effort, investment and time from our MD, Melissa Partington. She has worked tirelessly to ensure we can offer the best possible online experience. We are thankful that during this ongoing lockdown time, when our bodies and minds most need connection, we continue with our regular class timetable.
Of course, we miss seeing all your faces in person but this next best thing can keep us all connected and safe at home. The other big plus is that even if you move interstate or internationally, you can continue with your favourite physio and a remote class.

PRIME TIME Webinar
Can’t wait that long? You might love to watch the PRIME TIME webinar we filmed in lockdown last year. This is a fabulous concept on how to harness your amazing “middle years” to make sure you have a strong body to enter the later years! Our popular BASS series has been going ever since….
This webinar is full of many great tips to keep you motivated, moving and stronger not just through lockdown, but also as you age!
We explore the latest research on ageing: exercise, what to eat, and mental health strategies. Use these practical strategies in your world immediately and take control of your mind and body as you age.
VACCINATED AND OPEN IN LOCKDOWN
We are excited and grateful that all of our staff have now received their second dose of COVID-19 vaccinations. This includes both our physios and our wonderful support team.
We remain open for telehealth and in-person consultations as needed for clients. If lockdown is getting your body in a twist, be sure to book in for a tune-up with your physiotherapist now.
We continue to offer our FOCUS workshops on a Saturday online. So if you feel the need to check in to your posture, core or legs/buttocks basics, book in here……..
AVOIDING BURNOUT
Have you got lockdown fatigue? Finding it hard to get moving or start exercising? Or maybe you feel like your brain is turning to mush.
Here is Anna-Louise’s take on the well-known, Yerkes-Dodson curve for Stress and Performance, with a few added zones. Her key take home message for us all is that some level of stress is actually a good thing. However, if you spend too long in the fatigue zone you risk tipping over into the “orange zone”. In the orange zone, we start to get physical symptoms like headaches, cold sores, back pain and gut issues. Stay orange for too long and you can start to slide into the red zone, where you can really get mentally and emotionally overwhelmed.
So….if your body is tired and trying to tell you something, get outside for sunlight and fresh air. Take regular breaks and really clock off at the end of the day. It is so easy to stay switched on 24/7 when work is at home, kids/partners are at home (or no one is at home with you) and all entertainment is even at home.
Five things you could do to shift you out of the orange zone:
Go to bed a bit earlier
Do some slow deep 4:6 breathing
Take an extra body break during the day…do a class in the morning, a walk in the fresh air in the afternoon
Cut down your screen time. Read a physical book, newspaper or magazine to relax
Talk to a good friend or colleague about your workload, about the lack of good life distractions, about missing your family, and about how you feel.

THE POWER OF A BUDDY
FLOOR IN ACTION
Sometimes it is hard to visualise exactly where and how the pelvic floor works. To help you, our expert Women’s Health physio Dimity Thompson uses our Real-time Ultrasound to show exactly what is happening.
You can watch the pelvic floor on the Ultrasound screen as you breathe. See what happens when you hold your breath, and get some individual feedback about the strength of activation.
If you need help with your core, a session with the Real-Time Ultrasound really helps - book a session with Dimity on Wednesday, September 22nd at Willoughby or Thursday, September 23rd at Moore Park.
Dimity explains how it works in this video.
