90th BIRTHDAY CLASS

Our clients love being social in class, and their support for one another is a big part of what makes coming into the studio so effective—and so much fun. Many groups even enjoy a regular coffee catch-up after class. One client, Diana Smith, recently celebrated her 90th birthday on the day of her class. What better way to spend it than getting stronger with your Physiocise friends!

Diane is an inspiration to her class, an ex-ballet dancer who had six children and continues to stay strong into her 90’s with her Monday morning Floppy class.

DO YOU HAVE MUSCLE ‘GUARDING’?

Many of us carry tension in our neck or back. When your muscles are constantly “switched on,” or the “volume” is turned up to protect you, it can lead to pain, stiffness, or tightness—and that’s when stretching alone doesn’t always help.

Watch Anna-Louise on Sunrise to learn what to do if you experience ‘muscle guarding.’

Those who attend our classes might recognise some of the helpful advice!

Jane McLauglin (Strong Bones class)
“Here we are at Uluru practising our BASS while waiting for the Ranger to take us on a guided walk.”

Fiona May Smith (Strong Kness class) on a recent trip to Tonga.
She was brave enough to go swimming with the humpback whales. How spectacular.

Trevor and Brenda Satill (Flippy & Advanced Floppy classes) on safari in Kenya, Africa.
They spent some time in the Maasai Mara National Reserve – and convinced their guides to do some lunges with them. They all make lunges look easy (which we all know is not the case!).

Sally Nield (our Physio) enjoyed a holiday in Greece.
Here she is taking time for a Hanging Psoas Stretch in front of the Hadrian Library in Athens. The perfect way to help keep you strong after a day sightseeing!

Kristy Reeve (our Client Care and Support team) enjoying a side stretch during her Camino Trail walk in Spain.

Sue Mavin (our Physio) on a recent trip to Borneo. Here she is practising some balance in Manukan Island, Borneo.

Melissa Partington (our CEO and physio) at the top of Machu Picchu in Peru taking time for a downward dog after the hike up! She also convinced her travel companions to do lunges at the top, along with Brett Robson (Athlete Burn class) taking time for a tree pose. What a way to admire the spectacular views (no doubt the lunges took some convincing).

Judith Burgess (advanced floppy class) taking time for a downward dog and psoas stretch in Kosciusko National Park. It was a 15km hike from Charlotte Pass to Perisher Valley, and beautiful views along the way.

We love seeing our clients’ adventures, whilst helping them stay active.

OUR BIG KITCHEN

Recently, we had the privilege of spending an afternoon at Our Big Kitchen, a remarkable community kitchen that prepares meals for those in need. Each year, they cook and deliver over 270,000 meals across 33 different charities—an incredible act of care and generosity.

During our visit, we helped prepare 150 meals for charities supporting people experiencing homelessness and women in domestic violence refuges. Our Big Kitchen reminds us of the power of community support. It was a moving experience to contribute, knowing that small acts of kindness make a real difference in other people's lives.

DR. STACY SIMS

Our team loves staying at the forefront of research and learning from leading experts in their fields. In October, many of our staff attended an inspiring evening in the city to hear from Dr. Stacy Sims, a renowned exercise physiologist dedicated to helping active women—and those who support them—better understand the female body for strength, resilience, and longevity.

At Physiocise, we are passionate about helping our clients stay stronger for longer, while managing aches and pains along the way. The evening was packed with practical, evidence-based tips, many of which our physiotherapists will be incorporating into class to help you train smarter and stronger.
