BOUNCING INTO YOUR 90’S
“I’ve always had a thing for hat’s” - Keith Harris.
92-year-old Keith Harris is the most incredible example of resilience with attitude. He first came to Physiocise earlier this year after having a bad fall last year which really shocked him. Fortunately, he didn’t injure himself, but it certainly knocked his confidence. As Keith lives alone, he knew it was important he did something about it.
“I saw my GP after I had my fall, and she suggested I do some regular classes to help my balance. I’m usually good at procrastinating, but I didn’t procrastinate about getting myself along to Physiocise. I’ve been attending the weekly Slip Saver classes with Maria at Moore Park ever since”
“They have made a big difference – I’m much more confident. We work hard for the hour on many different balance exercises. Plus we have a joke, it’s very fun. Maria has a great sense of humour and she keeps up all entertained. It’s become part of my weekly routine. And it’s proof in the lack of falls so I’m very happy!”
Retired journalist and Clovelly local – Keith keeps himself busy. He gave up driving in the 70’s as decided he didn’t need a car in Sydney. He continues to get around using public transport and loves dining out at restaurants.
“Even during the past year with COVID, it hasn’t stopped me from getting around. I’m just sensible and wear a mask. I get the bus to class each week and get the light rail home and walk from Randwick. It’s a bit further, but it’s good for me.”
If you don’t see Keith on the bus, he might be at the table next to you when you are out for dinner – I love eating out, I don’t tend to cook as much as I used to, so at least all my favourite restaurants are back open again now.”

CELEBRATING BOUNCING BACK
We finally got to celebrate the big year that was 2020 with a perfect party in pink. Our December Christmas party was postponed at the last minute, thanks to the Northern Beaches lockdown. Perhaps that made our recent party all the more special as we finally got to ditch our activewear and catch up with most of the team. Huge thanks to Melissa for our beautiful PINK themed Christmas dinner. As a team we are really proud of all the things we have achieved over the past 12months, and all the challenges we have risen to, so it was very special to be able to take time to celebrate.

KATE’S AMAZING NEWS
Kate Roberts, our talented physio.
Over the last few years, our super talented physio, Kate Roberts, had been juggling a part-time PhD, Physiocise, her family and two puppies. Now, the University of Sydney, is so happy with the work she is doing, they have awarded her a full-time 3-year scholarship to do her PhD which means we will have a Doctor in the house, way quicker than anticipated!
This is wonderful news for Kate and we are so proud of her. Sadly though, it means she won’t be able to keep up her current Physiocise load, but this is just too big an opportunity for her to miss.
For the moment, Kate will continue to do a few consultations, and as soon as she knows what her schedule is, she may even try to fit in a couple of classes.
In the meantime, our incredible team are moving in to support Kate’s classes so we can continue to look after you in the style you have been accustomed!
