Inspiring Teachers

Our fantastic Women’s Health physio, Dimity Thompson, was profiled by The Entertainment Quarter media team in their regular ‘People of EQ’ segment.

What inspires Dimity?

‘Every day I wake up thinking of new ways to inspire, and then every day I walk out inspired by the amazing people in front of me and their stories and journeys…….it is an amazing place to be 😊’

This 40sec clip also takes you on our journey since COVID-19, as we went expanded online, allowing us to reach our clients whenever and wherever you need us.

Beautiful Babies

The Physiocise team loves getting together to keep up to date with the latest research and training. This month we did our annual CPR training. Every member of the physio and admin team, including the delightful Ella Cush, 10-month-old daughter of Sarah, attended. As you can see, her technique was excellent!

It is wonderful to have Sarah back after her maternity leave. If you have been a client of Sarah’s in the past and you would like a review with her, you can book in by clicking below.

Outstanding Coaches

Commonwealth Gold medalist and physio Natalie Kaebisch (nee Bates) is also a coach for over 20 national and international cyclists. One of them is Sarah Roy who has just won the Australian Championships Elite Women’s Road Race. Another protege, Emily Watts just won the Under 23 Women’s Road Race Championships.

Just how critical Natalie is to the success of these athletes is summed up in Sarah’s words -

“This time last year I was recovering from arterial surgery and wasn’t able to race nationals, so to come back and win this year feels amazing.

A special shout out to Nat Bates- one of my favourite people, who inspires me, has shown me a path to living my best life and has always been there when I needed her most. We have been through so much over the last 10 years and Nat deserves this win as much as me.”

We are so proud of Natalie and so lucky to have her as part of the Physiocise team. Not only does she teach but as many of you know she continues to compete in elite, extreme endurance events… so between coaching, competing, teaching and family life, she is a busy (and inspiring) woman.

Supporting All Ages and Stages

women-of-different-ages.jpg

This term we are shining a spotlight on the important women in your life. At Physiocise we focus on helping women stay stronger for longer, with the right exercise and knowledge across all stages of life.

We start with young hypermobile girls and women who might find just sitting through a day of school, uni or work, is hard work. We understand how they feel, and help them slowly build strategies to keep them well.

Child bearing years  can also be a challenge for some as pelvic floors and wobbly pelvises suddenly come in to focus. They need specific attention, the right exercises and research-based advice. Our CORE BURN Classes can really help people back to great exercise in a pelvic floor safe way.

Peri-menopause and menopause can be a really challenging time for women. From niggling frozen shoulders to sore hips and knees, cranky achilles tendons and feet to wobbly bellies and leaky floors!

We can inspire and inform you, while providing you with tendon-safe and pelvic floor-safe exercise.

Post menopause is often the time we start to see bone loss. Osteopenia or osteoporosis is often a silent problem until we fracture something. STRONG BONES is a program that specifically targets the three pillars of research-backed exercise-  balance, impact and strength. When you combine them with the right diet, enough sunlight and vitamin D, and sometimes the right medication the results can be really amazing.

So many ways to inspire us, to help us feel safe, and tofulfil all our movement needs, and we haven’t even talked about the men in our lives yet!!

If you or a woman in your life need help with any of the above, make sure you urge them to check in with our team.

Get set for the Office B.A.S.S.

After the kitchen and the bathroom we decided to get outdoor and film the Bush B.A.S.S ! The cicadas and random bushwalkers added a bit more challenge to the filming, but it just adds to the authenticity!

Next term we are helping you work from home or in the office, so stayed tuned.

In 2 minutes, you can do your Balance, Agility, Strength and Stretching routine and then be on your way!

The B.A.S.S. is also a great alternative if you can’t make classes this term. You can sign up to receive a new B.A.S.S each week to keep you motivated.

Next term we take the B.A.S.S to the office, with tricks to get you moving more and sitting less.

Physiocise in the media

Physiocise Founder Anna-Louise spends a lot of her time these days, getting the Physiocise messages around prevention and education, out to the world. This week she was in at the ABC talking balance … and why we all need it!

Fear of slips and trips, or actually having a fall can really start to impact the quality of people’s lives. When we worry about our balance our confidence reduces, we limit how much we move (or overthink how we move) and increase our risk of injury.

We have clients who do our regular class physiotherapy well into their 80s, but we now also have specific SLIP SAVER classes. These really challenge balance, strength and brains in a super safe environment. The challenge gradually increases so you can gain confidence & strength in movement.
